Electric motorcycles used to be a niche curiosity, more talked about than ridden. The market data suggests that's changing faster than most riders have noticed.
The growth rate is the real story
The electric motorcycle market was valued at an estimated 53.61 billion US dollars in 2025 and is projected to reach roughly 302.51 billion by 2034, a compound annual growth rate near 21.2 percent, close to four times the growth rate of the motorcycle market as a whole over the same period. Whatever your opinion of electric bikes today, that's not a niche growth curve anymore.
What's actually different about owning one
No oil changes and far fewer moving parts to maintain, strong low-end torque that makes city riding feel noticeably different from a combustion bike, and regenerative braking that changes how pad wear and range interact with each other. Range and charging infrastructure remain the honest limitation for longer rides: most electric motorcycles today are better suited to commuting and shorter routes than cross-country touring, and that's likely to stay true for a few more years yet.
Why it matters either way
Whether your next bike runs on petrol or a battery, the same habits apply: service intervals, tire wear, and tracking range or fuel patterns over time. A garage log doesn't care what's under the tank, and neither should the way you keep track of it.
